Course Main Course
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 5 hours
Total Time 5 hours 15 minutes
Servings 6

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Turkey OR Beef
  • 2 cans Pinto Beans (drained)
  • 1 Chopped Onion (fresh or frozen is fine)
  • 1 jar Sautéed Onion and Garlic Ragu
  • 1/4 cup Water

Seasoning

  • to taste Chili Powder
  • to taste Black Pepper
  • to taste Adobo

Optional

  • 1 cup Cooked Elbow Noodles
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese to garnish

Instructions

  1. To begin, season (listed above) and cook your ground turkey (or beef) in a skillet on the stove top. Once the meat is fully cooked, drain your pan and set it aside.

Open and drain your cans of pinto beans and add them to the crock pot.

Add the entire jar of Ragu to the crock pot as well as your water.

Sprinkle in some chili powder* and stir, then add in your chopped onion and your cooked meat. At this point I usually add in some more chili powder, as its what gives this meal its delicious flavor. Give it a good stir, put the lid on your slow cooker and set the time. Its that simple!

I use a Crock Pot slow cooker. If I don't have a lot of time, I will put this going for 3 hours on high. If I am able to prepare it earlier in the day, I will usually let it be on low for 5 hours. The longer you let it cook the better it is since the flavors get to simmer nice and slow, but it is still very tasty when done in the shorter time frame as well!

We usually serve our chili over elbow noodles and sprinkle some parmesean cheese on top. It is delicious!

*If you dont have chili powder in your spice cabinet you can easily make it with some spices you might already have. To make chili powder combine:

    2 tablespoons Paprika

    2 teaspoons Oregano

    1 1/4 teaspoons Cumin

    1 1/4 teaspoons Garlic powder

    1 1/4 teaspoons Cayenne powder

    3/4 teaspoon Onion powder
