To My Peers: We Got This

To My Peers: We Got This

Most of you who read my blog are my peers age-wise and at this point in our lives, our 20s, there is a lot of growing going on.

During this time in our life, we enter new responsibilities; securing employment, paying bills, rent or a mortgage, learning to budget, to grocery shop and cook –  and to maintain the spaces we live in.

We experience relationships, breakups, new friends, the loss of old friends, and some may experience grief for the first time too.

Some of us may get married, and some of us may even get divorced during this decade of our lives. Many will become parents – which whether carefully planned or completely unexpected is a huge life change.

But growth can be difficult and uncomfortable. Even good changes can stir feelings of uncertainty and fear. There may also be times where you feel like you haven’t accomplished much in comparison to others – which is a feeling worth releasing.

There is no timeline that leads to the perfect life and there is no “perfect” life. Embrace your own journey and trust that what is meant for you will come to you at the right time.

And what about mistakes? You’ve probably made a few. But you can redeem yourself. Everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes we need to learn to forgive ourselves and then figure out the necessary steps to move forward and see our mistakes as lessons.

The thing I’m getting at here is…

This is just the beginning of your adult life.

You are going to be ok. I am going to be ok. WE are going to be ok.

Life will give you seasons that make you question everything, only to be followed by ones that are so full of joy. Have faith in yourself and your unique life journey.

There is a video I saw recently where Oprah Winfrey talks about “mustard seed faith” and how we should all believe in ourselves the way that a mustard seed does. Rather than butcher an explanation of what I saw, I will just embed the video below for you to hear:

Believe in yourself. Believe in your friends. Be good to others and be good to yourself too.

That’s all for today’s post. I hope you have a wonderful Monday 🙂

Sending love & light,

sig
